PRIME TIMERS PROLUGUE

Hey, Fellows: We're born; we're named; we're growing: we're almost organized; we're fun and the best is yet to cum (Spelling was never my forte.)
Drop in, not out. As you know, we now have a drop-in situation (open house—call it what you will) on the first Saturday of each month from 2 to 4. I'm excited about this. Not only will it make it possible for us to get acquainted faster, but it will provide time and space for planning committees to get their things together and come up with fun and enlightening things for us to do. On October 3, I'm asking all of you who volunteered to serve on a planning committee to come at 1:45 p.m. (promptly, please) and then we can spend 30 minutes talking about our categories, and still have an hour and 45 minutes for socializing. I have studied your questionnaires and have come up with a list of planning committees that is shown at the end of this newsletter. If you prefer another committee, don't panic. Just go with your preferred group on Saturday. Remember, the open house is at 6 Hamilton Place, third floor.
We’re having our monthly . . . . . [laughter] meetings, that is, on the third Saturday of each month. The next is October 17. We're growing so fast we must move to a larger site. We've found a really nice large meeting room that is within our budget. So who's got a budget? Anyway, they will let us use their facilities for what we can collect at $1 per torso at the meetings. I'll tell you how to get there--sounds gross but it's actually a piece of cake if you follow these directions. The address is 25 Staniford Street. you’ve never heard of Staniford Street? Neither had I. It's that short street that runs between Cambridge and Causeway Streets (or should I say between Sporters and 119 Merrimack) between the Hurley Building and the Old West Church. Actually, the Revere Room, our meeting place, is in the Hurley Building (that cement building with floating staircases and other interesting architectural innovations). Now here's how you find the Revere Room once you've located the side of Hurley Building facing Staniford Street (still with me? Hang on.) Locate the parking entrance (no parking available to public) and you will see a ramp going up on the left. Follow that straight ahead to the parking area: turn left and go to the ambulance entrance. As you enter, go to the left of the security desk to the elevators. (If they stop you, tell them you're going to the Revere Room). When you get off at the 2nd floor, turn toward the windows and take a left. Go down a hallway, through a set of doors and follow the signs to Revere Room. You're sure to enjoy the larger, brighter meeting room. Remember, it's not as complicated to find as it sounds. The closest subway stop is Beaudoin; but it's an easy walk from North Station, Government Center or Charles Street stops. Sean and I will be there at 1 p.m. and you're urged to come early and socialize. We do have to vacate these premises at 4:00 on October 17.
We ate, drank and made Mario's. The dinner at Mario's Monday was a great success and gave us an opportunity to get still better acquainted. There will be more such dinners; and, as soon as the committees get activated, there should be many opportunities for enjoyable sharing. I hope, too, that you will use your roster and call the other guys to share mutual interests. Participating together in meetings, special interest groups and on personal levels is how we will get the most from our organization.
