Focus on: Insight ...
"Since the Autumn of 1994, the Insight group has been bringing together people that represent some of the best and brightest gay men and women in the community, with the philosophy that everyone has something to contribute to the social progress and betterment of that community ... ourselves, our talents, and our support.
Insight offers the opportunity for people to gather, enjoy dinner with new and old friends, and network on a professional and personal basis. Routinely, Insight has experts speak on such topics a real estate, investing, travel, health, fitness, and law as they pertain to the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and gay friendly folks in Cleveland."
This month Insight will have a very special speaker in the person of the founder of Prime Timers ... Woody Baldwin. In 1987 Woody felt a wide gap existed in today's society, which caters almost exclusively to youth. This worship of eternal youth is never more flagrant than in the gay culture. Woody began the Boston Chapter by placing ads in local newspapers and soliciting his many friends. He expected only a small handful of men to attend the first meeting and was surprised when over 40 showed up. This indicated to Woody a need for social and cultural organizations to aid and support the more mature gay man. Now Prime Timers has grown to over fifty chapters worldwide.
Most Prime Timers know Woody only as the man who started it all and, unless they go to the Oklahoma City fall retreat, to Mardi Gras in New Orleans, or attend the bi-annual PTWW convention they don't get to meet him in person. Indeed, a rare opportunity for our PTC members and friends to discover the pleasure of an Insight gathering and meet the founder of our group. Mark your calendar today! On the THIRD SUNDAY at Three Woody Baldwin will be our special guest at the August 19th monthly gathering at home of Don and Chuck in Akron. According to our hosts, the main dish will be Carribbean Chicken with red beans and rice .... (good home cookin'). The nominal $8 charge per person covers the main dish and beverages, both of which are provided by the chapter. Each member or guest is expected to bring tasty appetizers, a variety of salads, (no veggies needed, but will accept), or mouthwatering desserts. Please remember that you need to RSVP before Thursday, August 16 via email, or just leave a phone message on the 24 hour chapter info line: (216) 291-4648 (Pressing [#] allows you to skip the recorded greeting).
